Cloudy Thinking: Remember when people wrote letters, on paper?

    I applaud your endeavour, but I think you can do better. I remember a time when people REALLY wrote letters. By hand.

    I can't speak for American education, but as a veteran of the French educational system, I clearly recall the hours and days I spent learning the correct number of curlicues to produce certain capital letters. C, M and T were quite ornate, for instance.

    The art of (legible) handwriting seems to have disappeared. As for the curlicues to which I referred, they are only deployed for official signature duties - also sadly curtailed with the death of the cheque.

    I agree. Handwriting is mainly a lost art. I never learned "cursive" writing as it was called in school. To this day, my handwriting is a not very pretty form of block letter printing.

    But put me in front of a Correcting Selectric III...
